Men and women of all ages intend to get rid of unwanted hair for good. In the past, it was not possible for people to get rid of body hair on a permanent basis. However, with the advent of technology, there are quite a few methods through which such a feat can be achieved. Here are some permanent hair removal methods for men and women:
1. Electrolysis – It is an effective method which involves passing electric current into the skin. However, it is a very slow method, because you are required to apply electricity on each hair follicle one after the other, making it impractical for large areas. Also, there are many risks associated with this method. It is recommended only for people who do not have a lot of body hair.
2. IPL or intense pulsed light – it is the most widespread hair removal system at it offers acceptable results at lower cost compared to other methods. In this method, a xenon lamp that emits a beam of light between 420nm and 1200nm is used. A filter is also used to narrow the wavelength, to 640nm or 690nm so that the light can destroy the hair follicles. However, the method may not be very effective as the light beam does not reach the roots of the hair.
3. IPL + RF – E light – this method is similar to the usage of pulsed light, but in this case a radio frequency is used, which increases the temperature of the beam of light by a few degrees thatby increasing the effectiveness of the treatment .
4. Laser – it is the most widely used and effective treatment for permanently removing unwanted hair. Three different types of laser are used in this treatment, they are:
I) Diode Laser – currently it can be considered as the most widely used laser, used in laser hair removal treatments. It is ideal for people with dark hair but it is not very effective on people with blond hair. The diode, which has a long wavelength, easily penetrates into the skin and destroys the hair follicles without causing any damage to your skin.
II) Alexandrite Laser – in this method of treatment, red light is emitted with the help of alexandrite stone. This stone emits light with very short wavelength (740nm), it's not very effective of dark hair. It provides good results in the removal of blonde hair.
III) Neodymium-Yag Laser – In this method, a natural stone lamp is used to emit light with a wavelength of 1064nm, which easily reaches the roots of the hair.
